Abdominal Aortic & Junctional Tourniquet

We have exclusive distribution rights for Pakistan from Compression Works, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of advanced tourniquet systems. The Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet – Stabilized (AAJT-S) is an FDA-approved product , currently in use by the U.S. Army, NATO forces, and extensively deployed in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, having surpassed the competitors Junctional Tourniquet in field adoption.

  1. AAJT-S utilizes a wedge-shaped bladder that when inflated pushes in on the lower abdomen, the groin or axilla. The device is designed to stay in place during any movement of the casualty and to stop all blood flow to the area distal to its application.
  2. Pressure Regulation – The AAJT-S has a pressure regulator built into the manometer that prevents over pressurization. At bladder pressures greater than 300 mm Hg the internal relief design bleeds off bladder air until the bladder pressures are <300 mm Hg (SAM Junctional Tourniquet (JT) currently in use of our security forces lack this feature).
  3. Tissue Pressure – The AAJT-S has been tested by NAMRU with pressure sensors to show that the bladder pressures accurately reflect tissue pressures. The maximum tissue pressure capable with the AAJT-S is 300 mm Hg due to the design of the manometer which has a relief channel built in to bleed off air when bladder pressures of greater than 300 mm Hg are reached (SAM JT currently in use of our security forces lack this feature).
  4. Area of application – The wide bladder of the AAJT-S provides skin contact of 8” x 5”. This is why lower tissue pressures are effective. They are applied over a larger surface area. It is also why application does not require specific knowledge of medical anatomy. It is a larger area of application. (The SAM JT applies pressure at the apex which is round with a 2” diameter. This also requires greater anatomical accuracy and specific knowledge of medical anatomy to accurately identify the vascular bundle targets by the TCD).
  5. Pelvic Bleeding – The AAJT-S is the only approved truncal tourniquet. It is the only medical device with an indication to treat pelvic bleeding (from either blunt or penetrating hemorrhage). Application at the abdominal location is one hour. Compression Works is planning to present safety data to the FDA from the USAF 59th Medical Wing showing it is safe for up to two hours.
  6. Circumferential Range – The AAJT-S allows for use on sizes from 10”-63” compared to the SAM SJT which is based on the SAM JT with a range of 32”-53”.
